HORIZONTAL BORING & MILLING CENTER
The AXERA HBM Series is engineered to maximise productivity in the machining of large and demanding workpieces. A rigid machine structure, high-torque spindle technology and optimised thermal stability deliver exceptional cutting performance, long-term accuracy and reliable operation under continuous heavy-duty machining.
Multiple spindle configurations and an optional CNC precision facing head enable complex processes in a single setup, helping manufacturers improve throughput while reducing overall manufacturing costs.
ENGINEERING DEEP DIVE
Meehanite-licensed, stress-relieved cast structures and roller-type linear guideways create a stable, high-load platform for large-part horizontal boring and milling.
X/Y/Z linear-scale feedback supports precise positioning across the working envelope.
Ball-screw support is provided for travels of 3 metres and above to preserve process stability.
The spindle and quill sleeve are hardened to a reference HRC 52–55 for long-term durability.
The T-Type platform offers 110 mm, 130 mm and 150 mm spindle-quill diameters, ISO 50 tooling, two-speed gearbox strategies and high-load rotary tables.
The ISO 50 spindle interface and two-speed gearbox support powerful cutting and reliable general machining.
HBM-5TU and HBM-5TLU incorporate the extended 150 mm quill concept with 900 mm W-axis travel.
Positioning accuracy: 15 arcsec; repeatability: 4 arcsec; encoder accuracy: ±5 arcsec.
Arm-type automatic tool changers, optional accessory heads and servo facing-head configurations expand the process range while minimising workpiece transfers and re-clamping.
ATC capacity ranges from 40 / 60 tools on HBM-3T to 60 / 120 tools across larger configurations.
The optional CNC precision facing head provides 200 mm radial traverse, a 1,250 mm maximum working diameter and Ra 1.6 μm surface-roughness reference.
The HBM-5T platform supports UT5-500 / UT5-630 servo facing heads for one-clamping milling, tapping, drilling and facing operations. Its U-axis radial slide enables outer and inner facing, cylindrical and conical boring, threading and radius machining.
